Experience & Education
I have worked with individuals, families and couples in areas such as parenting, relationships, career coaching, life transitions and time management since 1995. I started a private practice in 2009.
I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Yale University and a Master's Degree in Counseling from Northwestern University. I am a member of the Oregon Psychological Association.
Technique
Through what is commonly referred to as “talk therapy,” my counseling technique draws from a variety of theoretical orientations including solution focused, cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal and family systems. I am an engaged listener who strives to create an open, honest and confidential dialogue that aims to help move a client from a negative and obstructive place to one that is affirming and energizing.
Counseling for Adults (18 years and older)
I have helped young adults process separation and integration issues, and their future considerations. Older adult clients have presented with career issues, relationship challenges, parenting and care-taking struggles, and lifestyle changes.
Sports Psychology
As a four-year college athlete who competed at the national and international level, and as a parent of college athletes, I appreciate the complexities of being a student-athlete. I work with athletes to help manage anxiety and confidence issues, work through emotions related to injury or playing time, and to be self-advocates with coaches and parents. I also work with parents of student-athletes to help present themselves in the best possible way to support their child.
